Week 10: Evolution

Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew?

In our lab this week, we learned about evolution and how to make a story of it using AI as an illustrator. My group already knew the story of evolution for wolves/dogs, so we used that as the basis for our storybook. We also learned about technology in the classroom, and I was able to relate what we talked about to what I learned in a previous class, Teaching and Learning Technologies.

How can you apply what you've learned to your teaching in the future?

In my future, I would like to use this storybook idea to help the students get a personal look on how evolution occurred in different species. I also learned that AI can be tricky to use and not always load for some people. Because of this, I would probably avoid using that in my future teaching.

What are new or remaining questions?

One thing I wonder is if students would be able to use the AI accurately. I think that some students would struggle and get frustrated not getting the exact image they want with Dall.E.2. I also wonder how students know the different stories of evolution. Should the teachers go over some before or would students know some of their own?

  1. Hi Meredith! I think that doing this storyboard activity would be a great idea to use in my future classroom as well. As AI technology keeps getting upgraded, it may be better to use in the classroom in the future.

  2. Hi Meredith! I agree with the storyboard activity. It made our group really dig deep into our understanding about evolutions. I kind of wrote the same kind of question because I feel like students would get frustrated in creating a story about evolution.
