The big question addressed in lab, and a description of what you did.
The big thing we worked on in lab was conceptualizing the solar system and how big it truly is. We went outside and created a model that was to scale for the planets, sun and distance in between. I was shocked at how big the Sun is in comparison to the planets. Our Sun was the size of the huge post it papers and the planets were the size of a pencil eraser.
A description of what you learned in Thursday's lecture.
I was not in Thursday lecture because I was at a work conference.
Answer questions about the weekly textbook reading:
- What did you learn? I learned a new acronym to remember the planets (My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nutella) which is helpful for me because I love Nutella! I also learned that Pluto is not included in the list of planets in our solar system because it doesn't meet the third requirement of being a planet. I knew it was not a planet but didn't really know why.
- What was most helpful? The video titled "How Small are We in the Scale of the Universe?" was very helpful to me because I have a very hard time conceptualizing the universe and how massive it is.
