In lab, we did some review of our pendulum week. We charted graphs that had our data from the experiment we did last week. The discussion about pendulums and why they stop swinging lead to us talking about heat energy, which causes pendulums to slow after a while. This is also why kids on swings need others to push them or pump their legs to keep swinging. After the graphs, we started a discussion about forces at play for egg drops. We designed our own egg drops and tested our designs at 1m and 2m drops. After our egg drop, we discussed Newton's laws of motion, and watched a video about colliding carts. We discussed why some carts moved back more when they had less mass and vice versa. At the end, we practiced our energy lens and how to see these forces like heat energy, potential energy, and kinetic energy are at play in every day life (dropping items, swings, etc.).
In lecture we had our exam.
