What question are we investigating?
What is NGSS and how is it used in the curriculum?
What did we do in lab to investigate this question?
In lab, we talked about the different components of NGSS and how they worked together to form new standards for the science curriculum. We examined the three dimensions in-depth and how they work together to form this new system.
What did we figure out?
There are three main components to NGSS. The first component is the Science and Engineering Principles (SEPs), the second component is the Disciplinary Core Ideas (DCIs), and the third component is the Crosscutting Concepts (CCCs). We discovered that the curriculum is based on how these dimensions come together and take a holistic approach to science education.
What are new or remaining questions after the investigation?
One remaining question I have is how did these new standards come to be? I also would like to know how the developers decided on the three dimensions of this framework. How have these standards compared with the traditional Common Core standards?
I like your last sentence in the response to your second questions. Solutions have many parts that make up the whole. I also really like your questions, it looks like we think the same way.
